Guests can spend a day fishing one of these
lakes and enjoy perhaps one of their most memorable days of fishing ever.
Many of the remote back lakes in
the area offer some solitude and are well stocked with Walleye, Pickerel,
Northern Pike, Bass, and Perch. A short portage into these lakes is well worth
the hike. You can even enjoy camping on some of these campsites on the
backlakes. Ridgewood Cottage Resort has five back lake boats for our fishing
guest. The fishing boats are valuable to fish on Jumping Caribou Lake, Ingall
Lake and Waha Lake. If you like you can portage a canoe into these backlakes or
you can go to other remote back lakes such as Rabbit Lake or Wilson Lake to
name a few. If you want to fly into a remote back lake there is also float
plane fly-in services as well that can take you to alternate fishing lakes. We
can customize a fishing package just for your party. If you want there are
plenty of fish to catch right off our dock on Angus Lake.
Our Marten River and Temagami
fishing destinations await you when you vacation in Temagami at Ridgewood
Cottage Resort. Our home lake, Angus Lake, is a small and shallow lake, rich in
nutrients. Angus Lake is not heavily fished; often our guests are the only
anglers on Angus Lake. Walleye, northern pike, small mouth bass, and yellow
perch are plentiful. And Angus Lake boasts some great fishing to be found
anywhere in this area. Whether you bring your own boat, rent one of ours, or
fish from the docks, you are sure to have an enjoyable fishing experience on
Angus Lake.
For those that enjoy an even more
secluded fishing experience, we move boats to other backlakes in the area. Each
one is within an hour of our resort by truck, and requires a short hike in from
the access road. Once on one of these backlakes our guests feel like they have
"flown in", as they are generally alone on the lake. Whether you make the
journey alone, we guide you in to the lake trail, or we provide full guiding
service and spend the day putting you on to the fish, you are sure to enjoy the
back lake experience of our Temagami and Marten River lakes.

Ice-Out Spring Fishing on
Angus Lake in Temagami
For a few weeks after the ice
melts in the spring, our bays becomes the spawning grounds for many of Angus
Lake's northern pike. Fishing for northern pike during this period requires a
different technique, but it can be rewarding. Our guests fish right from our
docks and shoreline of Angus Lake, and pull in some nice northern pike.
Some of our guests ask that we
add them to our spring ice-out email list for some spring pike fishing, in
which case we notify them as to when the ice-out will be. In this way our guest
can make their fishing plans to come up and enjoy this great spring fishing
experience. If you would like to be added to our spring ice-out email list,
please visit our contact page, and send us a short
email.
We
encourage catch and release of the larger fish of all species to retain limit
catches for future generations.
